Origin
The No Kings Protests were held across the country on June 14th, 2025. These protests were in response to President Trump’s presidency and some of the decisions he has made thus far. Some of these decisions include Trump’s attempt to deport immigrants across the country, his parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, cuts to social services, and more. These decisions were seen as authoritative, hence the title “No Kings.” These protests were on the same day as the parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States Army, but the reason that this was such a controversial parade was because this happened to be on the same day as President Trump’s birthday. On one side, this parade could be seen as a way for Trump to celebrate himself, but on the other, he had no control when his birthday is and it was an obvious coincidence that his birthday was on the same day as the Army’s anniversary 250 years ago.
Widespreadness
These protests were held in Philadelphia, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Atlanta, San Francisco, and other major cities across the country. There were also protests held near Trump’s residence in Mar-a-Lago. However, no protests were held in Washington, D.C. in order to avoid the possibility of the protests being shut down.
