The Student Standard Press (SSP) is a student-run organization for other high schoolers looking to show their voice. Founded by Ohio high school students Juliana Nichols and Bella Wargo, our goal is for youth across the nation to voice their opinions, share their creativity, and engage in productive political conversation.

In school settings, student perspectives are often overlooked or limited to ‘safe’ and ‘surface level’ topics. Our goal is to put a spotlight on youth voices to allow intellectually curious students to partake in meaningful discussion and expression without unnecessary restriction. We hope to accomplish this through online publications of editorials, featured “weekly debates”, and community profiles, all by students. In addition, with our “college and careers” section, we are aiming to provide helpful insights into college admissions and careers for teens looking towards their future.

SSP believes that youth engagement in real world issues is crucial to prioritize. It is evident that education in these areas may be lacking in some school districts. Our organization is a step in the right direction. At SSP, we will support the up and coming generation of lawyers, doctors, innovators, and American citizens.

If you are looking to publish a piece, contact SSP (thestudentstandard@gmail.com) with your name, school district, and category of which you are interested in publishing. Thank you!
